Spring Farmstand Season

The 14th season of our Kid Run Compass Farmstand is in full swing. For six weeks in the fall and spring, our students set up the farmstand to sell vegetables to one another and the local community. We get our produce from the NYC Greenmarket and choose to only buy from local farmers (NY, NJ, PA). We also get a few items from foraging in local wild areas and from our school garden. The Compass Farmstand is not a fundraiser, but rather an opportunity for authentic learning for our students, supporting local farmers, and ensuring our community has access to fresh produce. We’ve created a Collective Shared Fund that is used to purchase the produce and give money to all students each week to purchase items from the farmstand. Students at all age levels get involved with the Farmstand by cooking in their classrooms, counting money, taking inventory, making signs, and more!

Compass Eco Fair

On May 20th, we hosted our 9th Annual Compass Eco Fair!

The Compass Eco Fair is our annual end-of-year event that celebrates sustainability and community through shared experiences. Even though it was a very rainy day, the community came together for a day of earth-focused fun and community building. We had food, music, all of the Compass pets, planting, a free store, and more!
